Notice for Updated Visa Application Requirements

On May 16, 2012 (Wednesday), the updated visa application requirements, as follows, will take into effect. Failure to meet therequirements will lead to delay or refusal of a visa.

I) Application for tourist/family visit visa (L-visa) must provide the following supporting documents:

1. Invitation letter from a Chinese organization or a permanent resident in China; or
2. Air ticket booking record (round trip) and hotel reservation.

II) Application for business visa (F-visa) must provide the following supporting documents:

1. Invitation Letter issued by a duly authorized unit in China (referring to the form of visa notification issued by the Chinese governmental departments, companies and social organizations authorized by the Chinese Foreign Ministry); or
2. Invitation cards of various kinds of trade fairs (original or copy); or
3. Letter of invitation issued by a state-owned enterprise, collectivelyowned enterprise, joint venture, solely-owned or private enterprise and educational, cultural and scientific institutions, and conference sponsors or hosts (original or fax).

III) The photo attached to the visa application form must be a color passport photo taken within 6 months (full face, front view and against a white background). A home-shot photo or a photo taken at an express photo booth will not be accepted.

Notice for 2011 Visa Application Form

Starting from August 29, 2011, the Consular Department of the Chinese Embassy in Canada will require all applicants to use the 2011 edition of the "Visa Application Form of the People's Republic of China". We would like to bring applicants' attention to the following:

1. Starting from August 29, 2011, all applicants are required to apply with the 2011 Edition of the "Visa Application Form of the People's Republic of China" and "Supplementary Visa Application Form of the People's Republic of China". Please follow the instructions(Form V. 2011A/Form V.2011B) in completing the Visa Application Form.

2. The Embassy will only accept visa application forms marked "Form V. 2011 " downloaded from the website. Previous editions such as Form Q-2007 , hand-written forms or altered forms will not be accepted.

3. The Application Form must be fully completed on a computer and clearly printed out. If some items in the form are not applicable, please mark "/ " or "N/A ". If you haven't fully completed the form, your application will not be accepted. The applicant has to bear all the consequences arising from that.

4. No hard copy of the Application Form will be provided in the Visa Hall. Please make sure that all paper work is in order before you submit your application
